Brand Identity
An introduction to brand identity and what it means to your business
Brand identity is the visual expression of a brand. It's everything from your logo to your business card and letterhead to your website.
In fact, brand identity includes:
- Logo/Marks
- Stationery
- Brochures
- Packaging
- Website
- Signage
- Livery (fleet)
- Uniforms
Your company's brand identity should be unique to your organisation. Just like your logo, it reflects your business goals, products/services, vision and personality.
And this is where designers face significant challenges. In a market saturated with identities, it can be tough creating a brand identity that not only reflects your organisation, but builds business awareness and helps you sell more of your products and/or services.
Your brand identity should:
- Reflect your company personality/values
- Generate trust and credibility
- Differentiate your business (product/service) from others
- Enable effective, efficient marketing across diverse channels
- Add value to your organisation
Effective brand identity evolves over time. Consequently, it's worth re-evaluating the relevancy of your identity once every couple of years.
