How to define and choose a logo for your business
A logo is a powerful visual representation of your company, venture or organisation. It forms an impression that should be memorable, unique and positive.
Before working with a professional to design an identity, it helps to know a little about different logo styles. Some might suit your business more than others.
The categories below give a brief introduction to different logo types.

Wordmark Logo
These logos are the most popular and have very little or no graphical content. Wordmarks are essentially a typographical treatment of the brand, business or product name.

Lettermark Logo
Lettermarks are very similar to wordmarks but use an abbreviation.

Symbol Logo
These logos use an abstract symbol to reflect your product, service or business.

Graphic Logo
Graphic logos use and image which clearly illustrates what your business does. |

Remember, an effective logo:
- Works in a variety of media (in print, on-screen)
- Is legible in a variety of sizes
- Is usually two spot colours
- Can be reproduced in colour and black
And finally, never let anyone distort your logo. It should always look clear and highly-legible. Distortion of identity sends a very negative message about your business, your products, services and values. Remain vigilant and stay alert to the visual distortion of your brand!
