PowerPoint Presentation Basics
Tips to help make your next presentation a winner
  1. Use Appropriate Font Sizes
Heading text is usually a point size of 40-44 points. Body text is between 20-36 points.

  2. Limit Bullets
Keep the size of your bullet list to 8 items (max). If you need more, split the bullets to two slides. It takes discipline.

  3. Put Thought into your Animations
Use animations to highlight the message(s) in your presentation. Don't animate for animation sake - it detracts from your important content.

  4. Fonts Have Feelings
Use fonts that are easy to read and suit your subject matter. If you have a corporate font - use it. This said, aim for sans-serif fonts like Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, Trebuchet and Tahoma. Serif fonts such as Times New Roman were not designed for screen legibility and can be difficult to read on a computer monitor or projection screen.
