Secrets to Selling Online
How to create revenue from your website
Use these tips to help maximize your potential online sales.
Find a Niche
Try and find something about your business that is unique. You can use a point of difference to help promote your business via increased customer awareness and loyalty. We tend to be interested in products and services that are somewhat unique - we talk about them.
Put in the Time
Unfortunately you are going to have to put in the hours to see the rewards. Despite what many websites and so-called web gurus will tell you, there is no fast way to make money on the Internet. Successful web businesses are the result of many hours of hard work, constant development and refinement.
Be Realistic and Advertise
Set realistic goals so that your online business will grow. Your customers won't come to you - you will have to go out and get them. Promote and advertise your website through print and other websites. All your stationery and marketing materials should contain your web address and if you have a store front, make sure it too is well signed.
Be Honest
People respect honesty. Promise only what you can deliver online and write your content using clear, concise, yet friendly language. The more site visitors understand your business and what you are offering, the better chance you have for a sale.
Provide Fast, Efficient Service
It is costly to acquire new customers so why throw them away with poor online service. If a potential customer emails an order or an inquiry, respond as quickly as possible. This will build relationships and maximizes any potential sales.
Update Your Website
As if we don't have enough to do. Set aside some time each month to update your website. Customers who return will have something new to examine and this might encourage them to purchase or return.
Websites that stagnate reflect poorly on business. If you don't have time to update the site yourself, hire a web design group to do it.
Cheap Means Cheap
Ensure your website has high production values. In other words, images should be clear and in focus, text should be well written and navigation should be easy. Leave a little white space - don't blast information using every conceivable technique as it will backfire.
Spend money on the construction of your website and it will work for you. Buy an inexpensive site and this could be your downfall.
